921地震後,邱晨先生投入故鄉的重建工作,提供自己的老家,整合這一群擁有服飾裁剪設計專長與熱愛鄉土的婦女媽媽們,透過組織的力量投入布染及客家服飾的創作與製造。2000年5月「台中縣東勢鎮愛鄉協進會」一個由東勢客家山城婦女自組的手工植物染工坊於焉誕生,結合當地特色的植物樹枝花葉為染色材料,堅持以健康、自然、環保為訴求,成功打開客家衫的新風貌,用自己的雙手編織屬於自己的未來。
A women's workshop which integrates resources and creates employment right after the 921 Earthquake, Ciou Chen devoted himself into the reconstruction of his home town. He provided one of his houses to start a studio for local women who held clothing design skills and lived their hometown. These women then began to put effort in cloth dyeing, design and production of Hakka clothing. In May, 2000, the "Dongshih People's Association of Taichung County", an organization and also a natural dyeing workshop was formed by Hakka women of Dongshih. They have used only local vegetal dyeing materials and insisted in pursuing health, the nature and protection of the environment. The workshop had successfully created a new appearance of and the future of handmade Hakka clothing.
