Miaoli is an important Hakka village in Taiwan, also the birthplace of wood-fired pottery, with over 100 years’ history. Xu Yonghuan, head of the Wuguu Cultural Village, gathers 32 pottery artists to exhibit over 1000 wood-fired works, hence the biggest wood-fired display/exchange platform in Taiwan. “Wood-Fired Narrow-Necked Vase” is made using Miaoli clay and imbued with the Hakka spirit that gives the work a self-effacing but solid and grounded texture, a very alluring feature.
