五、六O年代，台灣還是以燒炭為生的那個時期，在苗栗造橋鄉內，每十戶人家就有六、七戶以製炭為業，故有『炭的故鄉』之美譽。時至今日，燒炭早已成為夕陽產業，大家早已淡忘屬於阿嬤那個年代才有的炭香，那種令人難忘的溫厚暖意。新時代在科技推波助瀾下，炭元素重新被開發成為環保優質產品。火炭谷木炭文物館將竹炭昇華成心靈淨化吊飾，重新開啟台灣竹炭的第二春。現在親手為竹炭鑲嵌朵朵桐花，獻上生生不息的真情詩句，就是世上獨一無二的竹炭珍品。

Charcoal was the “must-have” necessity during Taiwan’s 50s and 60s. At the time, 7 out of 10 households in MiaoLi’s Zaociao town produced charcoal as their living. Therefore Zaociao township was called “The Home of Coal.” The coal business gradually faded out and people long forgot the fragrance and warmth from the charcoal.With the help of new technology, components within the charcoal were redeveloped into fine ecological products. Charcoal Valley Museum expanded the charcoal market even further by making the charcoal into spirit-comforting ornaments.
